Skydio and CentralSquare Technologies announced on August 3, 2026 a native integration between CentralSquare's computer-aided dispatch (CAD) platform and Skydio DFR Command, embedding drone-launch capability directly inside the software interface that thousands of U.S. public safety agencies already use. The integration — available immediately — auto-populates incident data into the drone workflow, streams live aerial video back into the CAD record, and eliminates the third-party middleware bridge that previously connected the two systems.

For most Drone as First Responder programmes, the dispatch centre and the drone operations console have lived in parallel universes — two screens, two workflows, and a radio call between them. On August 3, 2026, Skydio and CentralSquare Technologies announced a partnership that collapses that gap to zero, building DFR capability natively into the CAD environment that dispatchers never leave.

The technical significance of the word native is hard to overstate. Skydio's DFR Command software already exchanged data with CentralSquare's systems, but that connection ran through Fusus, a third-party video-intelligence bridge. The new partnership replaces that intermediary layer, building the drone workflow directly into CentralSquare's CAD environment instead of bolting it on from outside.

In the new integrated workflow, calls for service automatically populate incident location and call information into DFR Command the moment a dispatcher enters them. A remote pilot can immediately review the incident and initiate a drone response — one click on a live map rather than a re-typed address or a radio relay. During the response, live Skydio video and telemetry are embedded within CAD incidents for officers to view, and flight activity is automatically documented as part of the incident record. No data re-entry, no context switching, no manual coordination overhead.

The integration is available now. CentralSquare Technologies serves more than 8,000 public safety agencies across North America with its cloud-based platform, meaning the potential addressable fleet for this integration is substantial from day one.

The deal marks another step in a systematic integration strategy Skydio has been executing throughout 2026. When DFR Command crossed 10 million calls for service in February, Skydio counted integrations with more than 25 public safety systems — a dozen CAD providers including Motorola PremierOne and Tyler Technologies, plus NG911 platforms, gunshot detection networks, licence plate readers, and body camera ecosystems. The CentralSquare integration elevates one of those existing connections from a bridged API link to a native, first-party embed.

"Public safety agencies shouldn't have to rely on separate systems or manual coordination to access critical aerial intelligence," said Sarah McWhorter, VP of Product Management at CentralSquare. Alden Jones, VP of Product at Skydio, added that the single-click launch capability matters most "in critical situations where every second counts" — a claim that aligns with field data from early DFR Command adopters, where sub-60-second response times have been recorded.

Platform / UAV class: Skydio X10 — a compact quadrotor folding to under 4.7 lb (2.11 kg), certified on the Blue UAS cleared list for government and public safety use.

Sensors: Six 32 MP navigation cameras enabling 360° obstacle awareness; 50 MP wide-angle and 64 MP narrow-angle EO cameras delivering 4K/60 fps video; Teledyne FLIR Boson+ 640×512 radiometric thermal sensor. Industry Impact

For manufacturers: Skydio has moved its software into the CAD layer — the operational chokepoint of every agency that runs CentralSquare. Competing drone manufacturers whose hardware may fly at CentralSquare agencies currently connect from outside that layer or not at all. The native embed creates a structural advantage that is difficult to replicate without a comparable software-partnership investment.

For operators and public safety agencies: The primary operational gain is latency reduction. Eliminating the re-entry of incident data and the radio relay between dispatch and drone teams compresses the window between a 911 call and an airborne drone. For agencies already running DFR programmes, the upgrade path is a software configuration change rather than a hardware replacement.

For system integrators: The Fusus bridge that previously connected Skydio and CentralSquare remains a viable path for agencies that need broader real-time crime centre capabilities, but integrators pitching new DFR deployments at CentralSquare agencies should expect the native route to become the default. The move also signals that CAD vendors are becoming primary integration partners for drone platforms — a shift integrators will need to navigate.

For regulators: The integration does not alter the regulatory framework governing BVLOS operations or Part 107 waivers, which remain the binding constraint on how far and how autonomously DFR drones may fly. However, it does tighten the operational case for agencies seeking waiver renewals by providing automated, time-stamped flight documentation embedded in the CAD incident record — a form of compliance data that regulators have previously required agencies to generate manually.

For investors: CentralSquare's 8,000-agency footprint, combined with Skydio's already-operational DFR Command network that has processed more than 10 million calls for service, defines a large, captive addressable market for expanded DFR hardware and software subscriptions. Native CAD integration raises the switching cost for agencies that adopt it, strengthening the recurring-revenue argument for both companies.
